There is a "free theme" although the organizers welcome work within the following photographic genres: Documentary, Photojournalism, Fine art, Portraiture, Conceptual, Landscape, Street, Black and white.

Selected photographers will be featured in Gomma Magazine Issue 3.

This is a call for entries to photographers from all over the world.

The organizers say: Under the theme "Time" we are seeking images reflecting everything related to it - time flow, then and now, time difference, difference of values in the light of time, time of the day, week, year, synchronization, today, tomorrow, time patine, lack of time, hurry, waiting, expecting, Zeitgeist, Hochzeit (especially for German speaking photographers), clocks, horlogerie, timeless, golden/dark years, bad/good times, moments that matter, photography and exposure time, luminography, architectural, urban changes in the light of time, growth etc.

Selected works will be exhibited in solo and group exhibitions as well as slide shows and be promoted within a network of partnering festivals in Europe. Those who submit the best entries, who will be judged by a jury, will be invited to participate in the festival events in Kaunas in September 2006.

National Geographic 'Your Shot' competition

National Geographic invites interested parties to submit a digital photograph for possible publication in National Geographic magazine and on ngm.com. Submissions are of photographs on the topic of : "Parks" (selections to be published in October 2006)

Aperture’s Portfolio Review

The primary purpose of Aperture’s twice-yearly Portfolio Review is to discover new and “emerging” talent and to highlight work in progress that deserves greater recognition. The Portfolio Review is also a way for Aperture’s editors to keep in touch with work that they might otherwise not see.

The Observer Hodge Photographic Award 2006

Established in memory of photojournalist David Hodge, who was fatally injured while covering the Brixton riots in London in 1985, the award is open to photographers aged 29 or under.

2006 marks the 20th anniversary of the Observer Hodge Photographic Award, which rewards exciting and energetic new work by emerging photographers.

The New Documentarian Award for a Long Term Project

Open to any professional, amateur or student photographer who has not had a book published.

The award does not refer to a new photographer doing documentary projects, (though a new photographer can certainly enter this contest). But rather, the New Documentarian Award refers to a new approach to showing, sharing and promoting documentary photography.

If you can answer yes to one of the questions below, then your project qualifies for the “New Documentation Award.

Does your project educate people about something significant?
Do you hope to make a difference with your documentary project?
Does your documentary project preserve a time and place?

Chobi Mela IV, Bangladesh. Submissions

Photo practitioners are invited to submit work on the theme “Boundaries” for Chobi Mela IV, and encouraged to explore the boundaries of their medium.

Selections will be completed and selected participants informed (by email) on the 7th August 2006. Participants will be able to continue working, but will need to submit camera ready artwork or high resolution digital files suitable for printing, by the 21st August 2006. Chobi Mela does not sponsor shows and no fees are paid to artists. However for work that is selected, Chobi Mela will organize gallery space and an opening reception. Chobi Mela will publish a catalogue and poster for the entire festival, which will feature all participating artists.

Selected exhibitions will be toured internationally.
