This edition’s portfolio is from Nicolas Lobo-guerrero from Colombia.
Nicolas is a freelance photographer in Bogotá and most of the images in his gallery were captured in and around the city.
A participant in a World Press Photo seminar in Colombia in November 2006, 22-year-old Nicolas shoots in color for a purpose.
“I use a particular concept of color; bright and bold ranges to highlight
detail. That way, I can capture the viewer's attention. I use color as one more
element of composition but in some cases, to make the image more dramatic, I
use black & white composition” says Nicolas.
Nicolas's interest in photography was sparked early - by his mother, who worked in a photo laboratory.
“When I am taking an image, I try to compose carefully so that I do not need to edit it in the computer. I use natural light as it suits my style”.
“I like to explore shooting angles: when I find something interesting,
I observe it from a point of view which people are not used to so I can get
a better visual impact.”
